Confessions From A Pregnant Lady ::: Week 10

I’ve just hit the end of week 10 and look forward to starting week 11 tomorrow! This week, my baby was the size of a prune, about 1.2 inches long and 0.14 ounces, and has fingernails, hair, and has started doing somersaults and kicks in there (although, I can’t feel it yet 🙂 I have my checkup today and can’t wait to hear the heartbeat again!

Is there such a thing as nesting too early? For my non-prego friends out there, this is the stage of pregnancy when the mom goes crazy and cleans everything, moves furniture, maxes out credit cards to make sure the baby has what it needs and then comes home to organize it all until the wee hours of the morning…you know, the fun stuff. Normally, mommas do this in the later stages of pregnancy because we get anxious waiting for the little one to make an appearance (or we’re so uncomfortable sitting down because a giant baby has climbed up into our rib cages so cleaning and organizing helps ease the pain 🙂

For some reason, my nesting has made an appearance about 5 months too early. After having 2 kids, and waiting until the last minute to buys things both times, I’ve learned the error of my ways. I’m going to be ready this time. I’m on the ball. I’m stocking up early to avoid the ever-fun panic attack of “OMGDOWEHAVEEVERYTHINGWENEEDBECAUSEWECANTOTALLYBUYMORESTUFFANDTHISKIDWONTBESPOILEDENOUGHIFWEDONT”. Good times.   I’m really looking forward to setting up the nursery, but since it’s still too early to know what my little gummy bear is yet, I’ve settled for purchasing mass quantities of diapers, gender-neutral clothing, furniture, and random toys and odds and ends.

Boston (my 4-year-old) is so excited about having a new baby sister or brother that he contributes to the pile of stuff daily with toys he no longer wants, proudly asking “Mommy, can I give this to our baby?” Sweet little man. It’s ok for your 4-year-old to help you nest right?

(update on last week’s post: I can no longer even look at cheese coneys, let alone eat them. I think eating them for 2 weeks straight would do that to anyone 🙂
