Confessions From A Pregnant Lady ::: Week 13

This week, I felt her move.  It happens sooner and sooner with each pregnancy…they say it’s either because a momma’s body adapts more quickly each time, or it’s just because after you’ve already done this a time or two, you know the difference between a baby moving and other stuff that might be going on in there 🙂 Most first time mom’s don’t really feel a baby move until around week 19 or so, and 2nd or 3rd (or multiple times after that) mom’s reportedly feel it as early as 12 weeks, but every pregnancy is different.  For those of you that are not yet momma’s and have never been pregnant, when they say it feels like an alien in your body, they say that for a reason.  The first time you feel your baby move, it won’t be the swift kick in the kidneys that you expect.  The baby isn’t big enough for that yet (it will happen, and it won’t feel good :).  No, it feels like an alien. For some it’s a flutter, for me it’s more of a rolling sensation…almost like a tummy growl when you’re hungry but much more slow and not as empty feeling.  A good friend of mine described it as the “fish flip flop” feeling and that’s exactly it!  It’s the most wonderful feeling.

A little week 13 update:  my little gummy bear was the size of a peach, about 2.9 ices long and weighing in at about .81 ounces.  She (or he I suppose 🙂 was forming vocal chords and teeth this week, and even has teeny, tiny fingerprints already.  XOXO

(P.S. The book on the table is an amazing series called Outlander.  It came out in the early 90’s and I’ve been wanting to read it for so many years and am just getting around to it.  Starz has just released the new series based on the books and of course I had to jump on reading them before starting the series. Both the book and the show are INCREDIBLE! If you haven’t read this series, do it. Don’t think about it, just do it. That’s all 🙂 )
