Confessions From A Pregnant Lady ::: Week 14

So ladies, you know when you’ve taken the time to grow out your hair and it’s all long and luscious, and of course you want what you can’t have, so you cut it all off only to wish it were long again but hate the part of having to grow it back? Many of us refer to this as the “in-between” stage…its no longer cute and short, but not quite long and luscious, so you really Don’t. Know. What. To. Do. With. It.

There comes a time during every woman’s pregnancy where it’s quite the same. Her clothes start to fit snuggly, she feels straight up ugly most of the time, and people are afraid to ask if she’s pregnant and take the chance of offending her simply because they can’t tell whether that’s the case or if she’s just a bit chubby around the mid-section. Her regular clothes fit, but are too tight and therefore uncomfortable, and maternity clothes are still too big. I’d rather be not pregnant OR rather obviously pregnant. The “in-between” stage sucks. I’ve hit the full force of this stage.

As a work-at-home mom, it’s not uncommon for me to live in occasionally work in yoga pants, sweatpants, leggings…any stretchy-type of pants will do really, but it’s a whole other ball game when my yoga pants accompany me pretty much everywhere I go now. One of my oldest and best friends is getting married in 2 ½ weeks (eek!) and I’m shooting the wedding AND have the honor of standing next to her as a bridesmaid. I can’t flipping wait. However, she’s the most laid-back bride and left it up to her bridesmaids to be able to choose their own bridesmaids dresses. Being in this “in-between” stage has made dress shopping so much harder. I went shopping this past weekend and after an hour in Macy’s where everything was made of spandex, I broke down and went to Motherhood. Happily, I found a dress, not made of spandex, and lots of other cute things. While the front of the dress is a bit long as my little gummy bear isn’t big enough still to fill the extra fabric that maternity clothes are made of, I’ve fully embraced the fact that I only get bigger from here on out. So, with that in mind, I’ll wear my regular jeans with a rubber band through the loop to make it stretchy, my work out pants with tank tops because it’s still warm enough outside to get away with it, and try not to think about the fact that in a few months I won’t be able to see my feet let alone wear my regular clothes. Here’s to the “in-between” stage! XO

Here’s what went on with the little peanut during week 14:  it was the size of a lemon at 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, and it was sucking it’s thumb, wiggling it’s toes, and growing hair!
