Confessions From A Pregnant Lady ::: Week 17

This past weekend I had the insane pleasure of being in my friend Kyla’s wedding (and shooting it) and finally wearing that dress from Motherhood I blogged about a few weeks ago…soooo comfy and cute all at once.  You’ll see more of her amazing wedding on the blog tomorrow 🙂 For this week’s prego blog though, I just want to simply talk about growing up.  Being around old friends all weekend made me feel really blessed and reminded me of the importance of friends and family.  When Kyla and I were kids, we’d talk about our wedding days (her: under a waterfall, me: on the beach…neither of which actually happened) and what it would be like to be a “grown up”.  We grew up together, and then we had kids, both boys and only two months apart, and those kinds of bonds with my very best friends and those close to me are really important.

I talk a lot about the inner-workings of pregnancy, i.e. my cravings, the mood swings, the head aches, feeling the baby move, etc., but on the outside, one of the very best things about being pregnant or having kids is sharing it with those you love.  Having a friend who’s pregnant at the same time, having family members get so excited that they run out and buy things the second you find out you’re pregnant, or even just decorating the nursery with your husband or wife.  I’ve been lucky enough to have all of the above.

Your life will change in amazing ways the second you see your baby in real life for the first time.  It’s one thing to imagine what being a parent would be like, whether your baby will look more like you or your spouse, or who’s personality they’ll take after, but all of those things your mother said to you during those “you’ll only understand when you’re a parent” talk won’t sink in or  be completely clear until you actually are a parent. And when they are driving you crazy and you call your mom to complain about it, she’ll be there for you….and she’ll be nothing but giddy when she can finally say “I told you so”! Sharing is caring 🙂  I’m feeling lovey today…shout out to my friends and family, I love you all!! XO

This week was week 17 of my pregnancy, and the peanut was the size of an onion (about 5.1 inches long and 5.9 ounces).  It’s little cartilage is turning to bone and it’s putting some fat onto those bones as well! I start week 18 today and only a few more weeks until we find out what it is!!
